Join our pioneering clinical service supporting people affected by rare conditions

 

1 in 17 people in the UK are affected by a rare condition. This brings unique challenges that can impact mental health and wellbeing. Rareminds is a UK-based charity that works in partnership with other rare condition charities and stakeholders to provide online counselling, psychotherapy and mental health support to everyone impacted by rare conditions.

As a growing organisation, we are recruiting a range of new team members to join our innovative clinical team and help us provide life-changing therapeutic support for people impacted by rare conditions.

All roles will be subject to references and an Enhanced DBS Check.

Trustee, voluntary

We are looking for an experienced counsellor or psychotherapist with experience in managing large counselling services to join our Board of Trustees. You will bring clinical insight to the Board’s oversight of our counselling services as we continue to develop. Our approach is primarily short-term, integrative and informed by contemporary psychodynamic practice.

We’re looking for a Trustee who can:

  • Provide oversight and assurance to the Board on the direction and vision for delivery of clinical services and associated services.  

  • Support the Board’s oversight of counselling practice standards, safeguarding and risk.

  • Offer an independent clinical perspective to the CEO and Clinical Manager on service development, policy and practice.

  • Ensure we are adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework and guidelines.

  • Contribute to Board discussion on strategy, research and evidence-building.

  • Share in the collective responsibilities of a charity trustee.

Clinical Supervisor, 0.2 fte, £51,975 per annum (pro rata)

We are looking for an experienced integrative or psychodynamic Clinical Supervisor who can:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic care across our services.

  • Provide weekly clinical supervision and guidance to our clinical team (small groups and individually).

  • Where appropriate, hold an occasional small caseload providing supervision to external rare condition charity leaders and founders.

  • Consult to the CEO, Clinical Manager and Clinical Trustee regarding best practice in relation to clinical provision including managing risk, safeguarding, and boundaries.

  • Help uphold Rareminds’ model of practice, and maintain service excellence.

Job Description | Person Specification

Senior Counsellor, 0.4 fte, £45,420 per annum (pro rata)

 We are looking for an experienced integrative or psychodynamic Senior Counsellor who can:

  • Provide online counselling, psychotherapy and workshops to people impacted by rare conditions.

  • Deliver primarily short-term therapy (typically 6–12 sessions), flexibly over time and according to need.

  • Work sensitively with individuals and family members affected by rare conditions to help  address the psychological impact and implications of a life-limiting or life-changing diagnosis.

  • Can think creatively to adapt the counselling provision to support access for people with particular needs, e.g. living with sensory impairments.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

  • Act as a Lead Counsellor and main point of contact for some of out charity partners

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and appropriate electronic clinical records in line with professional standards and organisational requirements

We are offering the opportunity for a Trainee/Honorary Counsellor to join our team of experienced clinicians working with an under-served population and benefit from

Our placement includes:

  • 3 counselling sessions per week, Monday–Friday (or as agreed with your Rareminds supervisor).

  • Weekly small group supervision. 

  • A monthly Clinical Team Meeting (second Friday of each month).

  • In-house CPD training on ‘Counselling People Impacted by Rare Conditions’ and ongoing professional development and strong clinical support.

  • Opportunities to take part in events within the wider rare conditions community.
