Support for Rare Group Leaders, Staff, Volunteers or Professional Support Leads

Therapeutic consultancy

Supporting people impacted by rare conditions is rewarding, but can also be emotionally demanding. We understand the potential for stress and anxiety that can lead to burn-out, or emotional overwhelm for anyone working in the rare community. Regular meetings with one of our team to think about the most challenging (or evolving) aspects of the work can be highly effective. It can also help promote good volunteer or employee management and support.

Building rare resilience group programme

Our 4 – 8 week online programme (1.5 – 2 hours per week) supports organisation leaders, advocates and peer supporters to manage the ‘ups and downs’ of rare leadership and help prevent burn-out and compassion fatigue. It covers themes such as managing boundaries, dealing with difficult situations, group dynamics, dealing with difficult feelings, and sensitive signposting. These groups run intermittently according to funding. If you would like to enquire about providing, or accessing a group, please email

Training for rare group leaders, staff and volunteers

We can provide training from a psychologically informed perspective on how best to embed the principle of psychologically informed care across your clinic, or organisation from point of access, to signposting to specialist services.

If you would like to enquire about accessing any of these services, please email .
