RareArtists
Mental Health & the Arts
At rareminds we believe that the arts (painting, writing, music, sculpture, photography, comedy, film etc) have a central role in exploring and expressing the rare disease experience at both the individual and collective level.
We love running Group Art-Making events at training days, conferences and events for the purposes of community building. rareminds works with Community Artists and Art Therapists to provide fun, non-intimidating art-making and community building events with a psychologically informed perspective.
This section of our website will host online exhibitions and links to visual and media artists, musicians and writers, exploring aspects of living with rare disease and/or genetic inheritance.

Paloma Tendero
Paloma Tendero is our first RareArtist. Her artwork explore themes around inheritance, illness and the impact on identity, relationships and the timelines of life. She uses photography and sculpture to represent the physical and psychological relationships that spring from inheriting and sharing DNA.
